how a garland
gets made

a little peek into the studio — the messy, glinting, stained-fingertip reality of stained glass.

01

sketch it out

every piece starts on paper. shapes get drawn, traced, and cut into templates so the glass has something to follow.

02

cut the glass

sheets of colored glass get scored and snapped along the template lines. then smoothed on a grinder until the edges are soft.

03

foil & solder

each piece gets wrapped in copper foil by hand. a hot iron and a spool of solder join them into one little stained-glass creature.

04

patina & polish

a wash of patina turns the silver seams copper or black, then a buff to bring out the shine. last — strung on a chain and ready to hang.
